Parade welcomes back airman from Hastings
HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) _ A parade featuring a firetruck, police cars and a convertible carrying the honored guest has welcomed back an Air Force member from service in South Korea.
Airman 1st Class Ryan Fitzgerald traveled 24 hours from the Asian country to land in Omaha and then journey to Hastings on Thursday for the small procession. He says the parade route was filled with people waving at him and yelling their greetings.
Fitzgerald told the Hastings Tribune that it ``is very inspirational seeing everyone come out and welcome me home.''
He must return to his duties in South Korea in less than a month.
