Cattlemen's Ball to host community forum
The 2014 Nebraska Cattlemen's Ball Committee is inviting the public to learn how funds raised are supporting cancer research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. This Sunday, Dr. Kenneth Cowan, head of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center will speak at a community forum at the Gering Civic Center from 4:00-6:00 pm.
Cattlemen's Ball Co-Chair Monty Stoddard says this event is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the cancer research being conducted.
While the research center is located in Omaha, Stoddard says the benefits of the research being conducted at UNMC extends hundreds of miles.
Ninety percent of the proceeds from the Cattlemen's Ball goes to the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at UNMC. The other 10% will support cancer prevention related activities and organizations in the panhandle. With a goal of raising $2.5 million dollars at this 20144 Cattlemen's ball, Stoddard says every donation for cancer research matters.
Stoddard says everyone is invited to attend the Cattlemen's Ball community forum this Sunday, as everyone has been touched by cancer.
The community forum will be held this Sunday at the Gering Civic Center from 4:00-6:00 pm
