Ground broken for Albion motel, events center
ALBION, Neb. (AP) _ Construction is about to start on a new motel and events center in eastern Nebraska.
According to reports, Randy Christo and his mother, Jackie, broke ground for the $1.5 million project on Friday.
Boone County Development officials say they have sufficient lodging and meeting space now. But with growing ag, manufacturing, and health care industries, they say having 24 additional hotel rooms and more space to host events will benefit the community.
The motel will be built on what was an empty lot on the southeast side of Albion.
Construction will begin next week.
Contractors say if they stay on schedule, the Cardinal Inn should open sometime in April.
