Bruce Elbert Nutzman, 78 years of age, of Bertrand, (formerly of Sutherland, Nebraska), passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Bertrand Nursing Home.  Bruce was born October 5, 1939 on the family farm near Bertrand in Phelps County, Nebraska, the third of four children born to Maynard W. and Beulah J. “Boots” (Moore) Nutzman.  Bruce received his primary education from Bertrand Community School.

Following his education, he was united in marriage to Patsy I. Werner in 1956, and to this union three children were born:  Stanley, Sandra, and Mark.

Bruce pursued his passion of being a mechanic, and was well known for his ability of getting to the bottom of any issue that arose on a vehicle, especially if it was a Chevy.

Later in years, Bruce remarried, and was united in marriage to Margaret Johnson.  The couple made their home in Bertrand, where Bruce was employed by the CO-OP.  After retirement, he relocated to Sutherland, where he resided until his health began to fail.  In recent years, he made his home at the Bertrand Assisted Living, and Nursing Home until his passing.

Bruce enjoyed his family, and loved the time spent with his family and friends at special occasions.  His sense of humor will be missed, as he was always ready with a joke, and was poised and ready for an opportunity to give a friend a hard time.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Carolyn Nutzman; and two nephews:  Justin White and Todd Nutzman.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his three children:  Stanley Nutzman of Lincoln, Nebraska; Sandra Coffey and her husband, Bobby of Orleans, Nebraska; and Mark Nutzman and his wife, Amanda of Alma, Nebraska; five grandchildren:  Jason Besmer and his wife, Megan; Ashley Schmidt and her husband, Jason; Nova, Eli and Wilder Nutzman; eight great-grandchildren:  Lilli-ann, Cy, and Cameron; and Tyson, Dominick, Jaylea, Kaylynn, and Crayton;   two brothers:  Don Nutzman and his wife, Colleen of Bertrand; and Bob Nutzman of Aurora, Colorado; one sister, Beverly White and her husband, Carl of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation, or memorial book signing, the family is honoring Bruce’s wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Bruce’s honor and will be designated at a later date.
