John ‘Jack’ Corder, age 89, of Elwood, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at CHI-Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, at the chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary, 1404 L Street, Aurora. The Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Interment will be at the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
John Thomas Corder, Jr., the son of John T. and Jennie (Lauhead) Corder, was born at Lexington, April 30, 1929, and died at Kearney, June 6, 2018, at the age of 89.
Jack attended school in Lexington. After school, he worked on the family farm.
Jack was united in marriage to Freda Weese on March 19, 1948 at Wichita, Kan.. They moved to Elwood, where they farmed and raised their five children. Jack also worked at Sperry-New Holland in Lexington for 17 years. They had just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Freda of Elwood; three sons, John (Starla) Corder of Lexington, Robert (JoAnna) Corder of Moundridge, Kan., and Eugene (Melanie) Corder of Elwood; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Corder; daughter, Jacalyne Corder; three sisters, Mildred, Phyllis and Irene, two grandsons, Nathan & Christopher and great-granddaughter, Natasha.
