Funeral Services for Lloyd E. Ehrke will be held on Saturday February 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska with Pastor Thalia Woodworth, officiating. Interment will be held at the Stamford Cemetery with military honors conducted by Merlin Palmer American Legion Post #233 of Stamford in conjunction with the U.S. Army Military Honors Team.

Lloyd Everette Ehrke, 90 years of age, of Stamford, passed away on Wednesday February 6, 2019 from complications of Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the Harlan County Health Systems in Alma, Nebraska, surrounded by his family. Lloyd was born January 15, 1929 on the family farm southwest of Stamford, the youngest of four children born to Herman Claus and Gardie Catherine (Stroh) Ehrke. He received his primary education from Sunny Slope Country School in Furnas County, and graduated from Stamford High School with the class of 1946. Following his education, Lloyd served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, from July 16, 1952 until his honorable discharge on June 16, 1954.

On May 6, 1951, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Lea Lubeck at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, and to this union the couple were blessed with five children: Leslie Ann, Leah Lynn, Leon Everette, Lyle Eugene, and Lisa Jean. The family made their home on a farm southeast of Stamford, where Lloyd engaged in his lifelong passion of farming until his retirement. On May 6, 2018, the couple celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary.

Lloyd was a family man. He was a devoted husband and father, and enjoyed attending all of his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. In their younger years, Lloyd and Marjorie enjoyed roller skating. Throughout the years, he and Marjorie made many friendships attending card clubs, and going to Husker bowl games.

He was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, where he served on the church council for several years. He also served on the Stamford School Board, and was active with the American Legion Post #233 in Stamford.

Besides his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his siblings: Lawrence Ehrke and his wife, Frances; Violet Bose and her husband, L.J.; and Willa Ralston and her husband, Tom; and a host of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law on the Lubeck side of the family.

Lloyd leaves to celebrate his life; his wife of 67 years, Marjorie Ehrke of Stamford; three daughters: Leslie Smith and her husband, Terry of Holbrook, Nebraska; Leah Ehrke of Chandler, Arizona; and Lisa Hirschfeld and her husband, Matthew of Gilbert, Arizona; two sons: Leon Ehrke and his wife, Janell of Orleans, Nebraska; and Lyle Ehrke of Los Angeles, California; 10 grandchildren: Lona, Katie, Terry Lee, and Brandi Smith; Cole Uptagraft and his wife, Jana; Gavin Uptagraft; Haley and Parker Ehrke; and DeAngelo and Adric Hirschfeld; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha Jean Lubeck of Alma; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday February 8, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford.

A memorial has been established in Lloyd’s honor, and kindly suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford.
