This weeks pet of the week is named Baxter. He is a 10 year old Maltese Pure Bred that needs a family that’s willing to let him live the rest of his golden years with them! But don’t let his age scare you! He is such a quirky little guy! He will run around the couch 3 times every time you come home in excitement before he comes to greet you! Stormy is a sweet little fighter. She was found in Pilger, NE after the tornadoes leveled the town in seconds. She was pulled out of a collapsed house and immediately befriended the crew that was working on the house. She was so incredibly hungry and thirsty that couldn’t get enough food and water. Little did we know that she was eating for not only herself, but 4 other little ones!! A few weeks later, she gave birth to 4 beautiful healthy kittens! Stormy is full of personality and absolutely loves people. She’s great with kids and small dogs. She’s not the biggest fan of larger dogs but is learning to tolerate them. This week’s pet of the week is Huey! He’s an 8 month old orange tabby who is very talkative and the bravest of his litter! He is a huge lap cat but can be independent if need be. Huey doesn’t like wearing collars and is very playful. He actually taught himself how to play fetch! He loves to explore and watch out the window for birds and squirrels. Huey is neutered and up to date on shots and has been waiting for his forever family for a while! He gets along with other cats and has limited experience with dogs, but we suspect he would be great with them.

This weeks pet of the week is Angel! She’s almost a year old and closing in on 90 lbs. Angel is a St. Bernard/lab and maybe some Dalmatian mix. She is definitely a gentle giant though. She would do best in a home with other bigger dogs (as she is still learning her size) and kids running around. She loves the chaos of activities going on around her. Rebel is a great dog, and would be super with a family with children. He loves to romp and play and is loving at the same time. Rebel is just about a year old and is a lab mix. He could have some heeler in is breeding also, but it is hard to tell. Rebel weighs around 40#, and loves to ride or just hang out on the farm. Brindie is a young female of undetermined parentage. She is dark with brindling on her lower body and legs. She has a sweet personality with lots of enthusiasm which can be exhibited by turning leaps in the air. She is housebroken and walks well on a leash once her excitement is spent. Jessie is one lucky boy having been picked up on the highway between Wakefield and Wayne after a car straddled him. He was pretty insistent that his mother should come get him but has settled in at Tenderheart Animal Rescue in Wayne nicely at the rescue thanks to little Whopper’s company. We have gotten in 3 kittens last week and 2 more litters are on the way! They have all been dewormed and are not adoptable quite yet because they are so young but we are taking reservations! They will be ready in about a month. Right now we have 2 boys, Tiger and Gus, and 1 girl, Spotty. They were all found alone and crying when a good Samaritan brought them to safety. This week is Tippy. She is a female cat. She is at least six years old. She is white with a gray spot on her head and has a gray tail. She is extremely sweet but had lived on the street for sometime and knows how to take care of herself. She has had the tips of her ears frozen, therefore the name. Honey is this week’s Pet of the Week. She’s a 6 month old kitten with beautiful green eyes. She is very playful and loves other cats and dogs of all sizes. She is such a quirky little girl and loves to cuddle. Otis is our most mature orange tabby. He has been with us since we opened. With a sweet, laid back personality it is suprising that he hasn’t been snatched up to make someone happier with him in their life. This pet of the week is Amelia. She’s a sweet and all black beauty. She’s two years old but is the size of a 6 month old kitten. Amelia is a special little girl because she is FELV +. This means she will either need to be the one and only kitty in your house or with other FELV + kitties. Cats with FELV have been known to live long and healthy lives, so don’t think anything different of this sweet girl. She may be petite, but she has so much personality in her tiny little body. She loves to be held, have her head rubbed and her back scratched, purring the whole time. She loves to play.

Tippi is a small white female with dark grey tail and one spot on her head. She was found by one of our members, cold, thin and with ear tips missing due to frostbite. Pet of the week is Schroeder a white male cat with a Black spot on his head and a dark tabby stripe tail. He was found in Wakefield this winter in need of a home and found his way to Tenderheart.
