During the month of March, seventeen persons were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation. These 17 fatalities occurred in 15 crashes. Seven of the 14 vehicle occupants killed were not using safety belts. Three fatalities occurred on the interstate, four were on other highways, and ten took place on local roads. Eight of the fatalities were age 24 or younger. There were 18 fatalities in March of 2017. So far in 2018, 49 people have died in traffic crashes.
