Aaron says advocacy against bullying stems from personal experience

Noted Hollywood actor Quinton Aaron, who is speaking to over 2,300 students during seven programs at local schools from Tuesday through Friday, told KNEB News his dedication to the fight against bullying stems from personal experience.

Aaron, our guest for a live early morning interview, says even though he is a big person now, in elementary school he was skinny with big glasses and a prime target for bullies.

Aaron says he wants to keep students from having such low self-esteem they consider committing suicide, noting the message he sends to them this week might be accepted better than one their parents try to give repeatedly but fall on a deaf ear.

Aaron, who is best known for his portrayal of NFL star Michael Oher alongside Sandra Bullock in the Academy Award winning movie, The Blind Side, began his own Foundation to provide hope to children on the brink of suicide. The Local ECD Foundation, formed this past spring with the same mission, is sponsoring Aaron’s appearance, including a number of public appearances…
