Scottsbluff water department crews have been busy the last couple week repairing a number of water main breaks that have required motorists to take detours on major streets.
The latest problem was at 20th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue. Public Works Director Mark Bohl says the problems all involve aging water lines. many of them installed in the late 1930’s.
Bohl says they try to prioritize areas where they know the lines are old with the city’s limited capital improvement money in the general fund. Bohl says because of the city’s budget concerns it make take a two year period to replace lines in targeted areas.
