Alliance emergency personnel busy after Monday evening storms

Along with much of the panhandle, Alliance and areas of Box Butte County were pounded with severe weather during Monday evening’s storms.

Alliance Police Lt. Ed Tjaden told KNEB News they had a very busy evening, receiving a variety of calls related to the storm.

Tjaden says their dispatch center received 5 reports of possible tornado sightings, reports of hail from golf ball to baseball sizes, 44 reports of residences or businesses without power, flooding in at least 8 locations, a downed utility pole, multiple train car derailments, and one local business that lost part of its roof.
