Aurora man sentenced to two years for domestic assault

AURORA, Neb. – An Aurora man charged for his part in a domestic physical altercation, mere days before Christmas, has been sentenced to two years behind bars.

Christopher Atwill, 27, was sentenced March 23 in Hamilton County District Court. Atwill was originally charged with 1st Degree Domestic Assault, Strangulation, and 3rd Degree Assault. The Strangulation charge was dropped in exchange for his plea of No Contest. Atwill was credited with 93 days already served.

According to court documents, Aurora Police Officers were dispatched on Dec. 20, to a report of a physical altercation between a male and multiple females. Upon arrival by law enforcement, all subjects were intoxicated. Atwill became upset and began striking one female in the face and choking her to the point that her breathing was obstructed. A second female attempted to get between the two and Atwill began to strike her as well.

Atwill will serve his time in the Hamilton County Jail.
