Natural gas utility Black Hills Energy is contributing $13,000 to the Carpenter Center through the Black Hills Corp. Foundation. The donation will go toward construction of the center’s new, 8,700 sq. ft. tumbling pavilion.
The addition will provide space for its expanding youth tumbling program while allowing the current space to be used to host events and other programming offer serving youth, families and the elderly population in the Gering and Scottsbluff area.
Jeff Sylvester, vice president of Nebraska operations for the company said, “We look for ways to give back to the communities we serve, and where this is a community center that provides multi-generational programming, the Carpenter Center is a worthy example.”
Bob Nemnick, Carpenter Center director, said he anticipates the expansion will be open by the first of the year and thanked Black Hills Energy for their generous contribution.
