Dawson PPD dealing with Monday morning outages

UPDATE 11:00am Monday:

Power has been restored to nearly 500 customers in the North Platte and Maxwell areas. The outage involved equipment that delivers power from NPPD to Dawson PPD. The outage lasted over two hours.

Customers across the territory have experienced blinks caused by the winds.
A few isolated outages remain in other areas.
Whiteout conditions are making power restoration difficult.
Updates on outages are available at Dawson Public Power District’s Facebook page. Call 308-324-2386 to report outages. Crews cannot be dispatched based on social media posts or emails.

7:45am Monday:

Dawson Public Power District is reporting about 80 customers out of power in the Darr, Elwood and Lexington areas. They say customers may experience blinks caused by strong winds whipping ice covered lines. Whiteout conditions are slowing restoration efforts.

Another outage is affecting about 500 homes in the Maxwell-North Platte area.

Dawson Power advises that if customers get a busy signal when they call to report an outage they should wait several minutes and try again. At times, they’ve had very high call volumes.
