Deadline passed for incumbents to file for elected office

Most incumbents for open elected Dawson County offices have filed for re-election. The exception was Sheriff Gary Reiber who recently announced he would serve out the remainder of his current term. The deadline for incumbents or current office holders to file for election was February 15th. Those offices and incumbent candidates include Assessor- John Moore, Attorney- Elizabeth Waterman, Clerk- Karla Zlatkovsky, Clerk of District Court- Becky Boryca, Commissioner District 2- Bill Stewart, Commissioner District 3- Dennis Rickertsen, Register of Deeds- Dian Lauby, Surveyor- Mark Streit and Treasurer- Victoria Clements.

So far, two candidates have filed for the open Dawson County Sheriff’s race. They include retired Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Ken Moody and Dawson County Chief Deputy Sheriff Mike Hudson.

The deadline for non-cumbents or new filers to file for all elected offices is March 1st.
