Death of second teenager in Howard County crash confirmed

Death of second teenager in Howard County crash confirmed

Howard County, Neb. — The Nebraska State Patrol confirms a second teen has died from injuries in a March 1 rollover accident in Howard County. 17 year old Navi Nielsen of Hall County died Saturday according to a patrol spokesman. The 17 year old was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 16 year old Bailey Jean Packer of Howard County. The patrol said the vehicle was northbound on Cody Road south of Route 92 when the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle.

The two were ejected from the vehicle and were transported to Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul where the 16 year old was pronounced dead. Seatbelts were not in use.

Centura Public Schools issued a statement Sunday that Navi Nielsen died at the University of Nebraska Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on March 1st. The statement went on to say that the school would be open on Sunday (yesterday) and the crisis team would be available from 2-5 p.m.
