Doane University to recognize graduates at Commencement on Sunday

 

Crete, NE — Doane University will recognize graduates from the College of Professional Studies and College of Education at its December Commencement ceremony on Sunday, December 16.

Approximately 300 undergraduate and graduate degrees will be awarded during the university’s Commencement celebration held inside the George & Sally Haddix Recreation Center on the Crete campus, which begins at 1:00pm.

Graduate students from the College of Education in the following programs will be recognized: Doctorate of Education, Education Specialist, Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction, and Master of Arts in Counseling.

In the College of Professional Studies, graduate students from the Master of Arts in Management and Master of Business Administration programs will be recognized. Undergraduate students in the College of Professional Studies will be honored as well.

Dr. Kristi Gibbs, Head of School at Brownell Talbot, will serve as the Commencement speaker with her address titled, “Lessons Learned as a Non-Traditional Student.”

Prior to joining Brownell Talbot, she served as Assistant Superintendent for Learning and Director of Special Education in Ralston Public Schools. Dr. Gibbs earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, her master’s degree in educational leadership from Doane University, and her Doctorate of Education from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Dr. Gibbs also serves on the advisory board for Doane’s doctoral education program.

Sunday’s Commencement ceremony will honor students who graduated in August as well. In total, 304 students that finished their program in August, October, or December will be recognized.
