Authorities say one person has been hospitalized after he struck the rear of a Scotts Bluff County road grader south of Melbeta Monday morning.
Sheriff Mark Overman says an eastbound car driven by 41-year-old Chad Conklin of rural Gering struck the rear of the road grader, and Conklin was taken by ambulance to Regional West for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Overman says the accident occurred between County Roads 29 and 30, and said Conklin did not see the road grader, driven by 55-year-old Dane Bolzer of Mitchell, until it was too late to avoid the collision. Bolzer was not injured.
Sheriff Overman says the car is considered a total loss, the road grader received less than $100 in damage. He says drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the accident; Conklin was cited by deputies for careless driving.
