Seward, Neb. – Sergeant M. Vance of the Seward County Sheriff’s Office received intel from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on westbound Interstate 80 near mm 369. Sergeant Vance was informed that the passenger in the vehicle was a wanted Federal fugitive who had been convicted of possession and distribution of twenty Kilos of cocaine. Sergeant Vance also learned that the male fugitive, Jesus Ramon Buena-Peregina, 39 of Arizona was a lieutenant in the Sinaloa Drug Cartel. Buena-Peregina was previously deported for prior felonies and returned to the United States to commit another felony drug crime of possession with intent to deliver Cocaine. Due to this crime has an active Federal warrant and had been sought for four(4) years.
The female driver Vanessa Esmeralda Lopez-Pena, 27 of Arizona attempted to conceal the passenger’s identity to avoid his arrest. Sergeant Vance was assisted by Deputy L. Johnson and Deputies J. Mayo and J. Henkel of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
The passport and ID’s found on Buena-Peregina were determined to be fake documents obtained by the fugitive. Federal Authorities were notified of the arrest at which time the US Marshal Service placed a hold on the fugitive for the active arrest warrant.
The female driver has been charged with Accessory to a Felony and is being held in the Seward County Jail awaiting bond.
