The Nebraska Department of Insurance has given final approval of 2017 health insurance premiums by two insurers participating in the market place under the federal Affordable Care Act. The Department has created a chart analyzing the plans under various scenarios. Those insurers are Aetna Health, inc. and Medica. The average increase in health insurance premiums form the 2016 plans averaged around 40% under the Aetna plans and around 55% under the Medica plans. With the open enrollment coming up, Department of Insurance Director Bruce Ramge says it’s important for Nebraskans to make sure the plan they choose fits their needs. While price is one important factor, Ramge adds that consumers need to make sure that the hospitals and doctors they go to are in their plan’s network.
