Each year, students at Gering participate in Senior Service Day, where the class joins forces to do community service throughout the Valley.

A handful of Bulldogs were found at the Riverside Discovery Center this morning, as they pitched in to rake leaves, branches and twigs around the zoo grounds.

Elsewhere, members from the Class of 2018 were founds at various Gering Parks, the Lander Soccer Complex, Scotts Bluff National Monument, and even at Gering Environmental Services.

Senior Jordan Overlin says it’s all about making the community a better place to live.

“We all just want to make a difference in the community,” explains Overlin. “This is going to be us one day, so kind of want to get started into it now.”

After a morning of work, seniors met at Five Rocks Amphitheater for a picnic, and then an afternoon of games, food,  fun and prizes.
