The Scotts Bluff County Commissioners have approved the appointment of the first woman ever to be the county’s highway superintendent.
Linda Grummert, who has been the interim superintendent since former superintendent Bob Bennett’s retirement in May, was named the permanent Superintendent Monday. Four applicants, all of whom work for the county roads department, applied for the position. Grummert was the recommendation of the board’s Interview Committee.
Grummert served as the Assistant Highway Superintendent for the past year after moving to Gering from Webster County, where she served as the Highway Superintendent from 2009-2016. She was the Assistant Highway Superintendent in Webster County for fifteen years prior to that, and also worked in the county clerk’s office and as Flood Plain Administrator.
