A hired man has been arrested for allegedly threatening an Enterprise Irrigation employee with a gun.

Court documents say that the employee was clearing weeds from the ditch north of where 51-year-old Peter Cortinas worked. The employee says Cortinas yelled at him for trespassing and threatened him with a firearm.

Cortinas then reportedly returned the residence, and then fired the gun several times. When deputies arrived, Cortinas said he did threaten the employee because his boss told him to not let anybody on the property, and in his opinion he was trespassing.

Cortinas was then arrested on the charges of: Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony, Terroristic Threats, and Resisting Arrest. He will make his first appearance on the charges on Wednesday in Scotts Bluff County Court.
