Lincoln, Neb. — The Nebraska State Fire Marshal announces the promotion of Doug Hohbein to the position of Assistant State Fire Marshal.
“We are very grateful to have someone so knowledgeable of the industry step into this position,” said State Fire Marshal Jim Heine, Agency Director. “His leadership style and experience with the various divisions will be a great benefit to him as he begins his new role.”
The start to his 33-year career with the State Fire Marshal Agency began in 1985 as a Deputy State Fire Marshal stationed in Holdrege. His experience in fire investigation, health care, and life-safety inspections led to his transfer to Plans Examiner in 1988, later to be promoted to Plans Manager in 1994.
“I have been honored to serve the citizens of Nebraska throughout my career,” said Assistant Director Hohbein. “I look forward to continuing my service in this new role with the State Fire Marshal Agency.”
Hohbein is a Lincoln native who graduated from Southeast Community College with a degree in Fire Protection Technology.
The Assistant State Fire Marshal oversees the operations of plan review, code enforcement, pipeline and fuel safety, fire prevention, fire investigations, and firefighter training.
