A not guilty verdict was returned Friday evening by a Scotts Bluff County district court jury in the case of a former Scottsbluff man accused of the first degree sexual assault of a young girl.
35 year old Reynaldo Gonzalez, Jr. was accused of sexually assaulting the now 11 year old girl when she was five years old. Court documents say the girl told a CAPstone forensic interviewer about the alleged incidents in January 2015 when she was nine years old.
The documents say the victim maintained she was sexually assaulted more than five times in the Scottsbluff residence Gonzalez, she and her mother lived in.
Gonzalez, who has denied the allegations, is currently in prison for two residential burglary convictions after his arrest in March of 2011 while he was living with the family.
The jury deliberated approximately three and a half hours.
