(Update) Teenager injured in car-tree crash, cited for DUI

Kearney, Neb. — A vehicle accident in the 600 block of W 11th Street in Kearney injured a teenager. The Kearney Police Department and Kearney Volunteer Fire Department as well as CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital EMS responded to the crash shortly before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.  Kearney Police issued a news release that said a black 1985 Chevrolet Camaro was westbound on 11th Street just west of 6th Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

The 17 year old driver, identified as Trevor Hausserman of Hazard, was extricated from the vehicle by the Kearney Fire Department. Hausserman was treated at the scene by CHI Health Good Samaritan Paramedics and transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan where he is listed in serious condition.

Hausserman was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol-first offense, minor in possession of alcohol and willful reckless driving. The accident is being investigated by the Buffalo County/Kearney Police Department Fatality Accident Team.
