Country music legend Larry Gatlin says he and his audience are going to have fun and “not be serious for an hour and a half” when he performs at the Midwest Theater Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Gatlin, who has written thirty three top 40 songs , including nine number one hits while playing by himself and his two brothers, told KNEB News his solo concert will be what he calls a “songwriter’s performance.”. Gatlin says he will have two guitars and tell how people like Johnny Cash, Ellvis Presley, Barbara Streisand and more recorded his songs.

Gatlin says his songs are all about “personal experiences”,  his and those of his fans who love his songs.

Gatlin, a close friend of pro golfer and course designer Ben Crenshaw, will also take some time out to play golf at Crenshaw’s Sandhills Golf Club in Mullen, where he is a member.

About 90 tickets are left for Saturday evening, most in the balcony. They are $25 for members and $30 for non-members on the main floor. Tickets in the balcony are $25. Call 632-4311 or log on to to purchase tickets.
