Local police warn Creepy Clowns to keep it legal

Sightings of creepy clowns across the United States have become anything but a laughing matter for law enforcement agencies and cast a menacing tone with the approach of Halloween.

The sightings have been reported in states ranging from California and Minnesota to South Carolina, New Jersey and New York, and according to Scottsbluff Police Chief Kevin Spencer, right here at home.

Spencer says they are taking some calls of people seeing clowns, but was not aware of any instance where a clown was doing anything illegal.

However, Spencer warns that if there’s a clown out there doing something inappropriate, police will take appropriate action in either citing or arresting them, whichever is appropriate.

The trend of trying to scare unsuspecting people has grown since August with scary-looking clowns, appearing on dark roads or driving in cars, some brandishing knives.
