After 24 years in law enforcement, and 21 of those years with the Scottsbluff Police Department, Sgt. Lee Pinet has retired from the career.

Pinet told KNEB News it’s been a rewarding career, especially here in Scottsbluff, but feels it’s time to move on to try something different. He said it would definitely be a big change for him and his family, but says he’s still young enough to try a second career.

Pinet said despite significant changes in attitudes toward police in the country, the majority of the population here are really good people. He says it’s been a pleasure to serve, and he appreciates the area and the people.

Police Chief Kevin Spencer said Pinet was a hard worker and has a good work ethic. Spencer wished nothing but the best for Pinet and his family.

Spencer went on to say they would eventually have a promotional exam. But says one of the reasons they added the corporal rank recently was to fill that void until they have time to complete the process and make those decisions.
