Authorities in Gering say a young adult driver was sent to the hospital after an accident where his vehicle ended up hitting a building.
Gering Police and Fire were called to Western Sugar’s West Valley shipping facility shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday to find a small red car had run into the building on 10th Street.
Authorities say the unidentified driver – believed to be 19 or 20 years old – said he was southbound on 10th Street, blacked out, lost control and struck a pillar, with the car coming to rest against the building.
The driver was taken by Valley Ambulance to Regional West Medical Center for unknown injuries, his condition was not immediately available.
Officers say drugs and alcohol were not suspected to have played a role in the accident.
