Merrick County Sheriff’s Deputies pursue driver in stolen car

Merrick County Sheriff’s Deputies pursue driver in stolen car

Central City, Neb. — Merrick County Sheriff’s Deputies on Wednesday pursued and eventually arrested a Saunders County man driving a stolen 2001 Ford Mustang. The driver tried to elude deputies for several miles until the vehicle went into a ditch west of Central City in the area of 15th Road and Lone Tree Road. The driver then attempted to flee, but was caught and detained by law enforcement. The vehicle was previously reported stolen and stolen items were located throughout the vehicle. The driver, identified as 22 year old Jacob Strong of Saunders County, had active warrants against him. Strong faces more than a dozen charges related to the chase. Strong had prior convictions for Driving Under the Influence, Flight to avoid arrest, Escape and Being a Fugitive from Justice. Strong was transported to Merrick County Corrections where he is being held.
