With over 550 participants registered, the 5th annual Platte Valley Companies Monument Marathon is set to get underway tomorrow morning.
Runners will be arriving and checking in at the Gering Civic Center throughout the day today during their huge pre-marathon expo. Western Nebraska Community College Foundation Director Jennifer Rogers says over 30 vendors are set up for expo, which will be going on from noon until 9 pm.
At the expo, you can learn more about local attractions, check out booths by other regional races, artisans and vendors.
Rogers says they have streamlined your timing bib, SWAG bag and race shirt pick up this year to give you more time to explore the area.
Participants are encouraged to come by the Civic Center anytime between 12:00 – 9:00 pm, not only to get your items for race day, but to take a photo at their selfie station, pick up the new Marathon apparel and gear, get a tour of the Scotts Bluff National Monument, find out more about local attractions, sign the participant wall, and much more.
Participants and guests are also welcome for a $10 pasta feed from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday evening
If you’re still interested in participating in tomorrow’s marathon, Rogers says they will be taking registrations today at the expo.
Rogers says the cooler weather forecast for tomorrow morning will be perfectly suited for participants in the full marathon, half-marathon, and this year’s new 5k event.
Every dollar raised through the marathon supports the important cause of student scholarships through the Western Nebraska Community College Foundation.
