Officials Investigating Weekend Fatality Accident SW of West Point

Officials Investigating Weekend Fatality Accident SW of West Point

WEST POINT – Cuming County Officials are continuing to investigate a traffic fatality which occurred as a result of a two vehicle accident on County Rd. 15 1/2, approximately four and a half miles southwest of West Point, at approximately 9:45 am on Saturday, August 26.

A press release from the Cuming County Sheriff’s Office says that 57-year old David Guenther of West Point was driving north on Rd. 15 1/2 and 22-year old Ryan Lawrence, also of West Point, was driving southbound.

Guenther died at the scene of the accident. Lawrence was transported from the scene by rescue squad and was later transported to an Omaha hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene of the accident were members of the West Point Fire Department, West Point Rescue, Nebraska State Patrol and Cuming County Sheriff’s Office.
