One Arrested After Drunk Driving Crash in North York

YORK, Neb. – A drunk driver was arrested after crashing his pickup into a pole early Sunday morning on York’s North Division Avenue.

The York Police Department was dispatched to the area of York Cold Storage around 2:15 a.m., where York County Resident, 63-year-old Michael Smith, had struck a metal pole in his 2008 GMC pickup. Emergency Medical Services originally responded but Smith refused treatment, at which point he was tested for alcohol. It was determined that Smith was over the legal driving limit and arrested. He was changed with Driving Under the Influence, as well as, Careless Driving and No Valid Registration.

Smith was the only occupant of the vehicle.
