Polk County crash kills one, critically injures another

OSCEOLA, Neb. – One person is dead, and another is in critical condition after a Friday evening crash near Osceola. 

According to Polk County Sheriff Dwaine Ladwig, the accident happened around 7:20 pm at the intersection of 130 & R Roads. A 2001 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by James Gabel was north bound on R Road. A 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Tyler Wildasin was traveling west bound on 130th Road. The two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection. The S-10 pickup rolled onto its side in the north ditch, the Tahoe left the roadway and came to rest in a harvested corn field.

As a result of the accident, Gable was pronounced dead at the scene. Wildasin was transported by ambulance to Annie Jeffery Hospital and later air lifted to another medical facility.

The Nebraska State Patrol Reconstruction team was called in to assist Polk County Deputies.
