UPDATE:

From NPPD’s Mark Becker…”We were able to backfeed Lexington and get all power restored in Lexington at 12:40 p.m. It appears to be a problem with insulators in the Westminster substation. Crews are at the scene and making repairs.”   Some customers of Dawson Public Power District were also affected by the outage.

Original Story:

Residents and businesses of Lexington and the surrounding area lost power earlier today. Nebraska Public Power District spokesman Mark Becker says the problem appears to be in it’s Westminster Substation. It started with a power interruption around 11:40am. It was restored about 10 minutes later “and then failed shortly after that”.

Becker says crews are working to transfer loads from other substations to backfeed electrical power to Lexington area customers.   About 2,200 customers are affected by the outage.
