A Nebraska Public Power District power outage impacted approximately 1,700 customers in Scottsbluff this afternoon, including customers on the east side of Broadway.

The outage impacted customers from Broadway east to 10th Avenue and north and south from 27th Street to the Beltline Highway.

Mark Becker with NPPD says the outage was caused by a timing issue. He says when there is a breaker lockout, it will normally give you 3 opportunities to re-energize. However the problem only allowed the breaker one time before locking out. Becker says they’ve corrected the problem and it shouldn’t happen again.

The outage lasted about two hours, and a total of 1,691 customers were affected.
