Red Dirt on The River returns on Saturday February 16, 2019 at 7:00pm, doors open at 6:00pm. Co-sponsored by 93.1 The River(KRVN-FM) and the Viaero Center, the upcoming concert features Aaron Watson and special guest Josh Abbott Band. A third artist will be announced soon. Adam Smith, The River’s Operations Manager says “we recently used Facebook to ask River listeners who they wanted to see at Red Dirt on The River. We are thrilled to be able to bring in a couple of the biggest names that were requested in Aaron Watson and the Josh Abbott Band.” Smith also expressed his appreciation for the Kearney venue, describing the Viaero Center as an outstanding partner in presenting Red Dirt on The River now in its 5th year, “their management have told us its one of their favorite events of the year.”
Aaron Watson continues to dominate as a true independent in the country music arena. Watson’s 2017 album Vaquero launched into the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart with his biggest career sales debut to date, and at #2 on the Top Country Albums chart. Vaquero is the follow up to his history-making album The Underdog, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, making him the first-ever independent, male country artist to debut in the coveted top spot. The album features “Outta Style,” his record-breaking Top 10 hit on country music’s national radio airplay charts and top 40 hit “Run Wild Horses.” Watson wraps the busy year releasing two new projects, Live at the World’s Biggest Rodeo Show, Watson’s 14th album and his first live album in nearly a decade, and his first ever Christmas collection, An Aaron Watson Family Christmas- both are out now. The singer/songwriter’s rise has been paved by years of hard work and perseverance.
Thanks to its inherently upbeat and singable material, Josh Abbott Band has become one of the leading acts in Texas music, winning four trophies in the inaugural Texas Regional Radio Awards. But JAB has national cred to boot – it’s landed three singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart –including “Oh, Tonight,” the first charted track to feature Grammy-winning Kacey Musgraves – and nabbed a Top 10 album with the 2012 release Small Town Family Dreams and reached No. 12 with the 2014 EP Tuesday Night. The six-piece ensemble is releasing its most ambitious project to date with the 2015 album Front Row Seat, a song cycle that follows a relationship from first meeting through its euphoric rise to a difficult breakup and contemplative aftermath. The release is accompanied by a national tour that takes the band to some of America’s most iconic country clubs.
