Governor Pete Ricketts says working together on a local, regional and state basis Nebraska can successfully work through the challenge of Bass Pro Shop’s acquisition of Cabela’s and bring certainty to those impacted in Sidney.
Ricketts met with Sidney and Cheyenne County representatives Tuesday morning prior to his brief stop in Scottsbluff and indicated he remains optimistic about the future of Cabela’s in Sidney.
Ricketts also indicated he felt good about the new Bass Pro partnership after talking to their founder and largest shareholder Johnny Morris.
Ricketts says Bass Pro has great respect for the Cabela’s brand, they have the same culture and Morris was very encouraging about bringing Nebraska into what Bass Pro wants to do in the future with the partnership.
Ricketts says the state has to sell the assets of Sidney to the representatives of Bass Pro Shop and that is what he is working to do.
