LINCOLN – Governor Pete Ricketts announced the appointment of Andrew La Grone, an attorney and small business owner from Gretna, to fill an upcoming vacancy in Legislative District 49.
“Andrew’s experience in private practice and work with the Unicameral make him well-prepared to represent the people of District 49,” said Governor Ricketts. “He is a solid conservative who will push to cut taxes, protect public safety, and champion pro-life policy. I look forward to working with Andrew to help grow our state in the coming years.”
“I am deeply honored by the Governor’s appointment,” said La Grone. “I will be a voice for Gretna and western Sarpy County in the Legislature. The people can count on me to put District 49’s conservative principles to work to help deliver new property tax relief, hold the line on state spending, and stand up for Nebraska’s unborn children.”
La Grone, 28, is the founder of La Grone Law, LLC and legal counsel to the Government, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee in the Nebraska Legislature. Previously, he has clerked for Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson and a private law firm.
Currently, he serves as the President of the Gretna Optimists. He is also a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Gretna Chamber of Commerce, and the Nebraska Lawyers Chapter of The Federalist Society.
La Grone holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The appointment is effective January 9, 2019 when current Senator John Murante is set to step down to be sworn in as the next Nebraska State Treasurer.
