Grand Island, Neb. — The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) announces the promotion of Jeff Roby from Lieutenant to Captain in Command of the NSP Training Academy.
The NSP Training Academy, located in Grand Island, oversees on-going training for troopers around Nebraska as well as training of new troopers in NSP’s basic recruiting camps.
Beginning his career with NSP in 1996, Captain Roby started in Carrier Enforcement, stationed in North Platte. He transferred to Troop C Traffic Services in Hastings in 1997 and then to Grand Island in 2000. He was eventually promoted to Sergeant while serving in Grand Island. Roby has served as the Training Academy Lieutenant since 2015.
Throughout his 21-year career, Roby has been an instructor in range, building clearing, patrolling, and motor vehicle law. He has also been assigned field training officer duties several times. Roby also spent 12 years as a Troop C SWAT Team member where he served as an assistant team leader.
Roby is a Grand Island native, attending Grand Island Northwest High School and graduating from the University of Nebraska – Kearney.
Captain Roby will oversee training of the next class of NSP candidates, Camp 59, scheduled to begin in May.
