A 17 year old rural Scottsbluff boy was injured following a rollover accident that occurred late Thursday morning in the area of Lake Minatare Road and County Road 26.

According to the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with Valley Ambulance and Scottsbluff Rural Fire responded to the reported rollover just before noon Thursday.

Investigation revealed that 17 year old Thomas Leach of rural Scottsbluff was traveling eastbound on Lake Minatare Road in a 2005 Chevy pickup.

Leach reported that he swerved to miss a deer. That caused the vehicle to enter the ditch on the north side of Lake Minatare Road, over-correct and slide across both lanes of traffic to the south and roll 1 1/4 times, coming to rest on the driver’s side, facing westbound.

The Sheriff’s Office says Leach complained of face and abdominal injuries. He was transported by Valley Ambulance to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.
