SCC to host panel on sexual harassment
Lincoln, NE (Nov. 26, 2018) – With the #MeToo Movement in full swing around the world, Southeast Community College will host a panel of experts who will talk about the prevalence of sexual harassment. “Sexual Harassment: What it is and what to do,” will take place Thursday, Nov. 29 from Noon-1:30 p.m. in U 104-106 at SCC’s Lincoln Campus, 8800 O St. The event is free and open to the public.
“The purpose of this event is to bring awareness to the local community and also to provide tools for individuals if they encounter sexual harassment at work, school or on the streets,” said Bridget Christensen, Sociology instructor at SCC. “It also provides a safe platform for people to share their personal stories.”
The panel is comprised of Jose Soto, vice president for Access/Equity/Diversity at SCC; Morgan B., Voices of Hope advocate; and Jeff Kirkpatrick, Lincoln Commission on Human Rights director.
“The panel will discuss the prevalence of sexual harassment in schools, the workplace and in our community,” said Lyndie Christensen-Nader, SCC Sociology instructor. “Panelists also will address actions to take when harassed by bystander interventions.”
SCC staff and faculty can earn one hour of safety, diversity or professional development credit for attending this event.
