A bad transformer was the cause of a power outage in Scottsbluff Wednesday that left 1,052 Nebraska Public Power District customers without electricity.

Those affected were generally in an area from Avenue I to Broadway, and 27th Street to just south of the BNSF railroad tracks.

NPPD spokesperson Terry Rajewich says crews tracked down the issue to the failed equipment just outside the Scottsbluff Post Office,  and had power restored after about two and a half hours.

However, Rajewich says restoration of power to the Post Office itself took a bit longer to complete.
