National Weather Service prediction of storm impact.

According the National Weather Service the storm is expected to begin at around 6:00 tonight with some rain and snow mix. Snow is expected begin around 10 p.m. and last until about 2 a.m.  At that time the snow will slide east and come to an end in the west.

“We are not expect there to be much mixed precip, it should change from rain to snow quickly,” said Jerilyn Billings of the NWS in Hastings.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to be light.

For the western and central parts of the KRVN listening area, snow is expected to be light.

“There is some uncertainty about amounts,” Billings said. “Some models are showing parts of Central and Northern Nebraska may get more than four inches, but it is unlikely that it will more than that.”

Billings said there is certainty about a few things.

“The wind is going to blow and the temperatures will be low,” said Billings.  “It is not going to get as cold as it was recently, however some most areas will see wind chills below zero.”

Icing is going to be an issue according to the NWS. However, there is not expected to be a lot of rain with these storms. Another round of cold weather is expected Saturday morning with mor below-zero wind chill factors.
