Washington DC — AAA (Triple A) spokeswoman Tamra Johnson says the agency predicts more Americans will travel this Thanksgiving weekend than any in the last 13 years.
Johnson says, “we are projecting about 54 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more away from home…and that’s nearly a 5 percent increase from what we saw in 2017…and it’s the highest travel volume we’ve seen since 2005.”
Johnson says for the nearly 49 million motorists who will be on the road, it’s a mixed bag this Thanksgiving. She says the bad news is that travelers will be paying the highest gas prices since 2014…the good news is that over the past few weeks….gas prices have steadily been dropping.
AAA says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in Nebraska is about $2.55.
The Thanksgiving holiday period is defined as Wednesday, November 21 to Sunday, November 25.
