Torrington hires new Police Chief, Sheriff Murphy retiring

Well some there were big changes in law enforcement in Goshen County this week.

Torrington has named David Hulshizer as their new Chief of Police. The 18-year law enforement veteran comes to Torrington from the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as an investigator.

Doug Weeks and Michael Matthews had both served as interim Chief of Police following the October, 2016 termination of former Chief Eric Sharp, who had fled the scene of an accident he was involved in.

And at the Goshen County Sheriff’s Department, longtime Sheriff Don Murphy has announced he is retiring at the the end of the month.

Goshen County Commissioners will have to appoint someone to fill the remaining 6 months of Murphy’s term….

Currently… Goshen County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigator Kory Fleenor…. Goshen County Undersheriff Jeremy Wardell….and ex-police Chief Eric Sharp… are all running to be elected as Goshen County Sheriff for the next four years.
