Two-vehicle collision south of Cozad results in fatality

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office reports a two-vehicle accident 9 miles south of Cozad on Highway 21 has resulted in a fatality. The crash reported at 7:36 p.m. Monday involved a 2005 GMC Yukon driven by 64 year old Monte Robertson of rural Cozad who was northbound on the highway.  Robertson’s vehicle was struck by a westbound 1998 Saturn driven by 18 year old Hailey Boutin of Eustis.  A passenger in the GMC Yukon, 59 year old Mary Robertson of rural Cozad,  was pronounced dead at the scene.  Monte Robertson was transported to Cozad Hospital then later transferred to CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney by Good Samaritan Air Care.

Hailey Boutin was transported to Cozad Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Restraints were in use in both vehicles.  The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Nebraska State Patrol, Eustis Fire Department and the Dawson County Attorney’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
