Two Rice Lake, Wisconsin residents were arrested Wednesday afternoon following a brief pursuit in western Dawson County. Sheriff Gary Reiber says at 2:13pm, a deputy clocked a 2010 White Ford Focus traveling 77mph in a 60mph zone east of Cozad on Highway 30. The deputy turned around to stop the vehicle but, a pursuit ensued. The pursuit was soon terminated when the vehicle began traveling in excess of 100mph through Cozad.
The vehicle was later located in the north ditch along Highway 30 about two miles east of Gothenburg. The driver, 26-year-old Brooke Hajdasz was arrested on charges of Willful Reckless Driving, Flight to Avoid Arrest, Possession of Hashish and Possession of a Stolen License Plate from Iowa. Her passenger, 23-year-old Spencer Wozniak, was arrested for Possession of Hashish and Possession of a Stolen License Plate from Iowa.
Sheriff Reiber says when pursuits are terminated, officers slow down to speed limit but, continues on to locate the vehicle. There were no injuries and the Gothenburg Police Department assisted. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
