Omaha, Neb. — Nebraska’s transportation infrastructure will receive a $65 million boost from Union Pacific Railroad (U-P) in 2018 according to a news release. Key projects planned this year include a more than $16 million investment in the rail line between Grand Island and Fremont to replace more than 110,500 railroad ties; and a nearly $11 million investment in the rail line between Burns and Lodgepole to replace nearly 85,000 railroad ties. U-P also plans to make a $5 million investment in the rail line between Lewellen and Sutherland to update track welds.

The company says in the last five years, 2013-2017, Union Pacific invested more than $543 million strengthening its transportation infrastructure in Nebraska.
